Ademar (Ah-day-MAR) Yagual Rosales is a Montañita, Ecuador native who started surfing at 12 years old. He began competing in the short board junior bracket at 15 and quickly moved up to the adult circuit. He competed nationally and at the Latin America level and is know for his hard-charging maneuvers (like floaters and roundhouses) and his calm, natural style. Ademar loves surfing when the big waves roll in and barrels form. He can be found out past the point, patiently waiting for an adrenaline-filled ride promised by the biggest of the incoming set.

With nearly 20 years of surf instructor experience, Ademar has helped all sorts of people progress in their surfing: from those who want to learn the basics to progressing surfers looking to level-up their skills, to expert surfers eager to learn the best local spots. He's skilled at developing an appropriate session for a wide variety of skill and interest levels, both individually and in small groups. Ademar has taken many a surfer to nearby pueblos' beaches for surf adventures over the years!

Ademar's parents are both originally from Montañita (along with many generations before them). He remembers when, as a kid, his dad would take him and his brothers via horseback up to their "finca" (farm) in the montañita that gave the town its name. Back then, Barrio Tigrillo had no houses and tourist spottings were rare. From then to now, what hasn't changed (even as Montañita has transformed into an international tourist destination) is Ademar's love of the ocean for which he's named, his passion for surfing and sharing this sport with others, and his connection to this local land that he proudly calls home.
